District Accreditation/AdvancED

AdvancED is the largest community of education professionals in the world. We are a non-profit, non-partisan organization that conducts rigorous, on-site external reviews of PreK-12 schools and school systems to ensure that all learners realize their full potential. While our expertise is grounded in more than a hundred years of work in school accreditation, AdvancED is far from a typical accrediting agency. Our goal isn’t to certify that schools are good enough. Rather, our commitment is to help schools improve.

Combining the knowledge and expertise of a research institute, the skills of a management consulting firm and the passion of a grassroots movement for educational change, we serve as a trusted partner to 32,000 schools and school systems—employing more than four million educators and enrolling more than 20 million students—across the United States and 70 other nations. AdvancED was created through a 2006 merger of the PreK-12 divisions of the North Central Association (NCA) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)—and expanded through the 2011 acquisition of the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC).

The Lumpkin County School System will host a six member external review team October 26-October 29, 2014.  The team will consist of two out of state members and four from Georgia.  The four-day review will include a review of artifacts and evidence, mulitple interviews, school visits, classroom observations, and conclude with a called Board of Education meeting to disseminate results.  We would like to thank each member of the external review team for volunteering their time to Lumpkin County.  The members of the external reveiw team are:

Dr. Michael Lodico, Lead Evaluator
Dr. Judy Forbes, Associate Lead Evaluator
Mike Bugenski, Reviewer
Jill Clogston

Assessment Program
Our Results

The Lumpkin County School System assesses it's students as required by the Georgia Department of Education. Since 2008, the district has been analyzing and sharing it's results with the board of education, the faculty, the community, and all stakeholders. This link provides data for mulitple grade levels through a variety of assessments including GKIDS, CRCT, EOCT, and writing assessments (grades 3, 5, 8 and 11-Georgia High School Writing Test). Comparisions with area schools, the Pioneer Regional Educational Service Agency and the state are also included. Additional information regarding assessment can be found by clikcing the Assessment link on the left.

Plans to include the new Georgia Milestones Assessments are in progress.
