Parents, We are so excited about our new communication tool, School Status. This has enabled parents and teachers to easily correspond through phone calls, texts and emails. I strongly encourage this communication as it helps your child be successful. However, I do ask that if you call, email or text your child's teacher, please give the teacher at least 24 hours to respond. Thank you for your help with this and please let me know if I can be of assistance in any way.

Parents of current virtual students only: Please be sure to complete the survey that was sent by Jennifer Moss regarding your plans for the next nine weeks by this Monday.

Good morning LCES families. This is Stacie Gerrells, principal of Lumpkin County Elementary School. This morning as crew members were working on a water leak behind our school, they inadvertently hit a gas line. Out of an abundance of caution, students were evacuated to the middle school football stadium. The fire department and city marshall came and shut the gas off. Once the fire department cleared the campus students were safely entered back into the building. We would like to thank all parties involved for their quick and efficient response as students were displaced for less than 15 minutes. Thank you to our students and staff for their patience. As always safety is our number one priority. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

Hello- This is Stacie Gerrells, principal of Lumpkin County Elementary School with a few reminders.

Parents- We had a wonderful first week of school. We were so excited to have our students back in the building with us. I am so proud of how well our students adapted to new routines and procedures. I can not thank you all enough for your patience as we continue to make improvements to make this year a safe and successful school year.

I know traffic was very congested the first few days. We are continuing to work on this as our number of car riders has tremendously increased this year. We do ask that if you need to buckle your child up in the afternoon, please pull out of the parent pick up line to do so. This will help keep our parent pick up moving smoothly and safely.

Please do not forget to send your child with a water bottle each day. I also strongly encourage your child to wear a mask while at school. Wearing a mask can help prevent your child from being quarantined if they are exposed to someone with a positive case of COVID 19. Please continue to talk with your child about your expectations of wearing his or her mask.

I sincerely appreciate all of your support as we continue to work together for the benefit of our students. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Thank you and have a wonderful evening.

Good afternoon LCES Families. This is Stacie Gerrells, principal of Lumpkin County Elementary School.. It was so great to see most of you at our open house on Thursday. We have missed our students and it was wonderful to have them walking our halls again. As you already know, the first day of school will be this Monday, August 10. Here are some important items that you need to know. All of these procedures have been put in place to keep our students and staff safe.

Please remember parent drop off will not begin until 7:30. Traffic will be congested in the morning. Please be patient with us these first few days. Traffic will improve as the week goes on.

  • Only kindergarten parents will be allowed to walk their students to class the first 2 days of school. If you have an older child and a kindergartener, you will only be allowed on the kindergarten hall, so please don’t walk your older child(ren) to class.
  • No outside food/ treats will be allowed unless the food is prepackaged and individually wrapped. This includes treats for birthdays. Students are welcome to bring a lunch from home.
  • Also, water fountains will be restricted. Water refill stations will be available for students to refill individual water bottles. Please make sure your child brings a refillable bottle with their name clearly marked on the bottle.

All students will report to their homeroom upon arriving t0 school. They will get their ID badge and then go to pick up their breakfast from their designated spot. We will have numerous adults in the hallways to help students get where they need to go.

  • Please make sure you talk to your child(ren) about how they will be getting home from school. All changes in transportation need to be made in writing
  • If you need to check your child out early, make sure you do so before 2:40 when we start moving students around to PPU and buses. We will not have a 3:05 dismissal this year where students can come to the front office to be picked up like we have had in the previous years. You will need to stay in your car and pick your student up through the line.

Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to keep your child’s safety as our number one priority. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions at stacie.gerrells@lumpkinschools.com or by calling the school at 706-864-3254. Good afternoon LCES families. This is Stacie Gerrells, principal of Lumpkin County Elementary School and I am so excited to welcome you all back to school.

I have a few important dates and reminders for you as we get ready for a fantastic school year.

First if your student is signed up for virtual learning, there will be a virtual orientation on August 6 at 11:30. A Zoom link will be emailed to you soon.

Open House for all other students will also be Thursday, August 6. If your child’s last name begins with A-M, your time for Open House will be from 8:00- 11:00 that morning. If your child’s last name begins with N-Z, your Open House will be from 1:00- 4:00 on the afternoon of the 6th. We ask that each child have only 2 adults with them in order to observe social distancing. Also to help with social distancing, we ask that if you need to discuss something in depth with your child’s teacher, please schedule a conference for a later time. The purpose of Open House is to meet the teacher, find out if there are any items that your child needs in addition to the supply list, and to get a parent pick up decal or sign up for the correct bus. Transportation tasks will occur in the media center. We encourage all visitors to wear a mask while in the building. You can expect your child’s homeroom teacher to contact you via phone or text on August 5.

We do have several very important changes for the upcoming year. Please remember these changes are in place for the safety of the students and adults in our building.

First, only kindergarten parents will be allowed to walk their students to class the first two days of school. Beginning with the third day of school, no parents will be allowed to walk students to class.

Next, students will not be allowed into the building until 7:30 each morning. If you arrive before 7:30 to drop your student off, your student will need to stay in the car with you until parent pick drop off begins at 7:30. The school doors will not be unlocked until 7:30 each morning.

Parent pick up will only occur through the parent pick up line this year. All parents going through the parent pick up line in the afternoon must have a parent pick up decal. We will not have a 3:05 dismissal this year where students can come to the front office to be picked up like we have had in the previous years. You will need to stay in your car and pick your student up through the line.

Also, water fountains will not be available. Water refill stations will be available for students to refill individual water bottles. Please make sure your child brings a refillable bottle with their name clearly marked on the bottle. Students are also encouraged to bring individual sanitizers from home.

Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to keep your child’s safety as our number one priority. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions at stacie.gerrells@lumpkinschools.com or by calling the school at 706-864-3254. Thank you and God Bless.
