Dahlonega, GA (October 15, 2025) — Lumpkin County Schools continues to demonstrate academic excellence, ranking among the top-performing school systems in the Pioneer RESA region on the 2025 ACT. According to newly released data, Lumpkin County’s average composite score of 22.8 surpasses both the state (21.4) and national (19.4) averages — placing Lumpkin County among the highest performers in northeast Georgia.

The ACT measures college readiness across four subjects: English, mathematics, reading, and science. Lumpkin County students scored well above regional and state averages in every area:

  • English: 21.3

  • Mathematics: 21.7

  • Reading: 24.7

  • Science: 23.1

  • Composite: 22.8

“These results reflect the outstanding work of our students and teachers,” said Superintendent Sharon Head. “Our consistent focus on college and career readiness, strong instructional practices, and community support continue to pay dividends.”

Regional Highlights

Lumpkin County’s 22.8 composite score ranks second among Pioneer RESA districts—trailing only Habersham County—and stands 0.4 points ahead of Union County and a full 1.0 point above the state average.
