Lumpkin County High School’s Junior ROTC program would like to give a special thanks to Mrs. Beri Orlando and everyone at Walmart store 2513 for their donation to our program! Mrs. Orlando and her crew donated $500 to the JROTC program to assist in the continuing effort to improve our community. The JROTC Cadets volunteer for many after school and weekend community events and Walmart’s donation will help offset costs associated with participating in these events. Your support encourages these young Cadets to continue working and helping within their community and demonstrates the generosity of the Lumpkin County residents!

Today teachers collaborated across several disciplines to create an incredible learning exercise regarding how to respond to a mass casualty event. Our students walked away from this learning exercise with tremendous respect for the men and women who work to take care of the multitudes in natural disasters, war, and other crisis events every day.

Congratulations to Dr. Gibbs for getting a grant that covered a student field trip to Barnes and Noble where students were able to help choose books for their classroom! Improving literacy is going to be a bit easier now that students can host classroom level "book clubs" reading and analyzing text from novels they helped choose.
