LCHS Cadets Take on the 30-Foot Tower at Fort Benning

Cadets from the Lumpkin County Army JROTC program recently completed a heartwarming service-learning project designed to foster community engagement and intergenerational connection. The cadets built and delivered bird feeders to residents at the Dahlonega Assisted Living Facility, aiming to brighten the days of elderly residents.
This project was part of the JROTC’s curriculum, which emphasizes community service, leadership development, and civic responsibility.
The cadets began by brainstorming ways to support local seniors, particularly those with limited mobility and few visitors. This project allowed us to take the skills we learn in the classroom—planning, teamwork, and service—and apply them to something that makes a real difference. We are proud of our Cadets and their dedication to the Lumpkin County community!

Congratulations to Anna Blake Moyer for being selected to move forward as a state semifinalist for the Governor's Honors Program (GHP)!
She will interview later this week for the GHP summer residential program that brings together nearly 600 sophomores and juniors from across the state in various academic and artistic fields for a month long intensive program at Georgia Southern University sponsored by The Governor's Office of Student Achievement- good luck Anna Blake!
