Mrs. Swift and Coach Estenson’s classes were busy with labs this week. Their biology classes created models of mitosis using Oreos and sprinkles. Their environmental science class compared r and k reproductive strategists by blowing bubbles and working to keep them alive as long as possible. It was a good week in science

Caleb Wilson Diesel Equipment Technology: Gold State Champion;
Damon Martin Small Engine Repair: Gold State Champion;
Cru Norton Automotive Service Technology: Silver State Runner Up;
Hayden Mckenzie Cabinet Making: Bronze Third Place;
Bailey Blount Motorcycle Repair: Bronze Third Place;
Shelby Mullins’s American Lit Honors class works on argumentative essays with writing tutors in the Building Bridges Writing Center
Hayden Mckinzie excels at building cabinets. He came in 3rd in the State at Skills USA and earned a Bronze medal.
Pictured is Cru Norton at the SkillsUSA Competition. He is being interviewed as part of his competition in Automotive Service Technology. Cru placed 2nd in State for this competition and earned a Silver Medal.
In January, Amber Sugarman (Senior) participated in All-State Reading Chorus, an extremely select ensemble comprised of the top sight readers in the state of Georgia.
In February, Johnovan Barron (Freshman) participated in the 9th and 10th Grade Mixed Ensemble at All-State Chorus.
Both students had to pass a difficult audition to be selected for their ensembles, and they represented LCHS extremely well!
Congrats Skills USA Winner, Caleb Wilson. He is the State Champion in Diesel Equipment Technology. He earned a Gold Medal and will compete for the National title this Summer in Atlanta.
LCHS has received top recognition from the GaDOE with 2 awards for 2024 AP Schools of Honor: AP STEM Schools and AP STEM Achievement Schools. We are very proud of our AP students and teachers for earning this noteworthy standard of excellence within the state.

Thank you to our partners for a successful ribbon cutting for the new and the renovated LC College & Career Academy! The new programs as well as the existing programs will benefit for years to come, and many new opportunities are now available to our students!
