Georgia Association of Educational Leaders (GAEL) Executive Director Robert "Buddy" Costley attended the LC BOE meeting last night to present Superintendent Dr. Rob Brown with the 2022 Jim Puckett Outstanding Educator Award. Dr. Brown was the recipient of this award in recognition of his selfless leadership to not only the Dahlonega/Lumpkin County community but to all of public education in the entire state of Georgia. Mr. Costley shared with our BOE and meeting attendees that Dr. Brown was selected for this award in part due to his leadership as the immediate past Georgia School Superintendents Association (GSSA) President and specifically for his ongoing mentorship and service to new school superintendents in our state.
Congratulations, Dr. Brown! You continue to represent Lumpkin County Schools well as our fearless leader, and we appreciate all you do for your school system and for this state!
Additionally, BOE Chairman Bobby Self presented Superintendent Brown with an Ideal Indian Award as a token of the board’s appreciation for his leadership.

You are inspiration, Fiona, and your #TR1BE is so proud of the path you are paving for so many!

Although we’re looking forward to the three-day weekend, let’s remember to appreciate our hard-working community! Every job is an important one, and we are grateful for the laborers of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. LC is a better place because of each of you!
