Have you ever tried roasted rainbow swiss chard? Thanks to our fresh fruits and veggies grant at LBES, students sampled some earlier this week. Don't let the name fool you; swiss chard isn't from Switzerland and can be traced back to the Mediterranean!

With Camp Frank D. Merrill in Dahlonega, many of our students have family members who are active Army Rangers. We were happy to partner with the Ranger Camp and invite our local Rangers into our schools for 𝑅𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑎 𝑅𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑟!

From campus tours led by UNG cadets and student leaders to a complete takeover of Chow Hall with 300 fifth graders, from an impressive win by the UNG Mens Basketball Team to a half-time show of rock-paper-scissors hula hoops and jersey tic-tac-toe, our students had an epic 𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀' 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗢𝘂𝘁! Thank you to Coach Dan Evans (@CoachEvans_UNG), Morgan May (@MoLo_May) and Walker McCrary (@walker_2411) for their coordination and partnership to make today possible!

Last Friday, a team of 30 educators, business partners, and community members traveled to Macon to deliver our final presentation in our efforts to be selected for the GA College and Career Academy $3 million grant. We now eagerly await the announcement at the end of next week! 🤞

Welcome to the #TR1BE, Katie Ann! We know your mom (Elizabeth Williams, LCES Teacher) and dad (Bradley) are grateful for a healthy baby girl this Thanksgiving!

As we prepare for our upcoming week off, we want to thank our students, our teachers and staff, our parents, and our community for a tremendous four months! Our #TR1BE is stronger and better because of the support and dedication from each one of you. Happy Thanksgiving, #IND1ANS!

That's a wrap, LC! Enjoy the week off with your family and friends celebrating Thanksgiving and the start of the holiday season. Thank you for your care and concern for your fellow #IND1ANS as we collected 988 pounds of food for LC Family Connections in our November food drive!

Congratulations to Lisa Lopresti and the LCHS Yearbook Staff for receiving the SUPERIOR Award from the Georgia Scholastic Press Association for their publication last year! GSPA's award was accompanied by this comment: "Leaning into the virtual nature of a disrupted pandemic year was an ingenious way to tell the story of the year. Many publications tried to proceed as normal. This one wisely shared the story of how virtual life collided with in-person interaction."

This week at Lumpkin County Middle school, students are given the opportunity to take advantage of the kiln in Mrs. Isaac's art classroom. The class created their own cups/jars out of clay, which they got to decorate with their own personalized glaze.

The Inaugural Kindergarten Cobbler Gobbler at LCES showcased the hard work and talent of our youngest TR1BE members! Parents watched their child perform several songs, learned about the work going in our classrooms, and enjoyed homemade cobbler from LC School Nutrition!
