The weather forecast has changed slightly, and Lumpkin County is now in the area of potential winter weather. Because the ground and roads are so cold, any precipitation that does fall this afternoon will create hazardous driving conditions. With the safety of our students and staff our top priority, Lumpkin County Schools will release all students and staff at 11:30 AM today (Tuesday, January 21, 2025). Thank you for understanding and for your continued support of our school system.

Our bus drivers ran their routes this afternoon to help us in determining all of the problem areas across Lumpkin County. With many roads that remain unsafe to travel down, we are not out of the woods completely. However, our bus drivers are communicating with parents if a road is impassable and determining a meeting spot for those students in the morning.
We will resume normal operations for Thursday, January 16, 2025. Students who live in an affected area will not be penalized if they are unable to get to school on Thursday. Please communicate with your child's school administration if this is the case.
We appreciate your continued support of Lumpkin County Schools, and we thank you for your patience these past several days. Let's finish out the week strong!

After careful consideration and a thorough review of secondary roads in the county, ice remains an issue on many of our bus routes. For the safety of our students and staff, Wednesday, January 15, 2025, will be a Virtual Learning Day for our students. All faculty and staff should report to their respective schools or work locations by 10:00 AM for a workday.
Thank you for your continued support of Lumpkin County Schools and for keeping safety as our top priority.
