Jason Lemley, Director of Community Engagement and CTAE, hand-delivered the Lumpkin County College and Career Academy grant application to the Technical College System of Georgia. If our community is chosen for this grant, the LC College & Career Academy will open within a year! Monday evening's BOE meeting provided an opportunity to recognize some of our district's impressive employees! Congratulations to Alan Hogan and Johnathan Mullins for receiving a 2021 Yale Educator Award, to our LCSS Nurses (Ursula Luesing, Rosa Grizzle, Cami McCarty, Scott Mildenhall, and Anna Roberts), LCES teacher Staci Kiefaber, LBES parapro Amanda Bennett, and BES Lead SPED Teacher Beth Hawk all for being Ideal Indians for September 2021! #TR1BE

LCES had its first book club meeting of the year on Monday afternoon. Not only did they talk about their summer reading, but they also worked together on planning a service learning project for this year. We are excited to see what they accomplish as a group! #TR1BE

The Superintendent's Challenge is here, and we are ready to help support the Georgia Mountain Food Bank during Hunger Action Month! Every superintendent from each school district in the GMFB service area submitted a hand-painted bowl to place up for "auction," and we want our district's bowl to raise the most money to support the Food Bank's programs! Both the LCHS and LCMS Cheerleading Squads came out early on Saturday morning to support and cheer on the ConnectAbility 5K participants! It was a perfect day for a community event and beautiful morning for a run. #PrideintheTribe
