🎓 📢 for Fiona McElliot
LCHS Class of '2️⃣2️⃣
🏫: University of North Georgia
Let's hear it for a recent grad pursuing a degree at UNG, who jumped right into college life as a member of the pep band, who works as an office assistant for the amazing ConnectAbility, and who helps out part-time at Long Mountain Lodge! You are inspiration, Fiona, and your #TR1BE is so proud of the path you are paving for so many!
Want to support our partners at ConnectAbility and be a part of #FionasChallenge? Join us at Hancock Park on 9/10 for the 12th Annual ConnectAbility 5K Race as a participant, as a cheerleader, or as donor (https://connectability.churchcenter.com/giving)!

Although we’re looking forward to the three-day weekend, let’s remember to appreciate our hard-working community! Every job is an important one, and we are grateful for the laborers of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. LC is a better place because of each of you!

Thank you to Brian Buffington of Pioneer RESA for sharing valuable Buff Nuggets with our Rising Indians this week. These new teachers are better prepared for educating our students and incorporating technology in their lessons!

Mrs. Isaacs' LCMS art classes were tasked with a variety of prompts from 'Things That Move' to 'Games and Activities.' Students were given selected supplies, and Mrs. Stroud's class chose 'Things That Move' and made speedy electric wheelchairs, cars, and hanging chandeliers!

Welcome to the #TR1BE, Aurora Mechelle Mayfield! Congratulations to Dad (Will Mayfield of LCMS), Mom (Miranda), and Grandpa (Bobby Mayfield of LCMS)!

It's time for our parent group meetings! This year, parent group will meet once per month on the first Thursday of each month. The first meeting is this Thursday, September 1st at the Student Outreach Center at LCMS. We hope to see you there.

In partnership with Dahlonega/LC Chamber of Commerce, LC Development Authority and UNG, the 2023 cohort of Lumpkin Youth Leadership kicked off yesterday with a day full of team building and entrepreneurial skills. We are excited to see how these student leaders develop!

Dr. Alhadeff’s Healthcare Science students @ LCHS partnered with Mrs. Collins’ Drama students to practice patient care scenarios last week. It was a win-win for both programs!

Several student-athletes from the UNG Men's Basketball Team visited Blackburn Elementary School on Friday to read to our first graders! Seen here, Ms. Olivier's students were so excited to meet and hear from these local stars!

Thank you, DLCCC, for hosting the State of Education luncheon. Along with Dr. Jacobs (President @ UNG), Mr. McDonald (President @ Lanier Tech), and Dr. Lovell (Superintendent @ MECHS), Superintendent Dr. Rob Brown presented an impressive update on the current state of LCSS! We have much to be proud of in Lumpkin County!

𝘼𝙡𝙡 𝙄𝙣 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙏𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧: The senior class at LCHS collected 26 new backpacks for Family Connection’s beginning-of-year supply drive. Students working together and giving back to our school district and our community is one of the many reasons we love our #TR1BE!

Have you completed your 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍 𝑴𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒔 𝑩𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒇𝒊𝒕𝒔 𝑨𝒑𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 this year? We need ALL families to help us out by completing this quick application. Visit https://www.lumpkinschools.com/page/begofyear for information on how to complete this needed step.

𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞! Although many things have changed in K12 classrooms in the last thirty years, our students still benefit from exploration during centers. Centers might look a little different nowadays, but the idea remains the same. What was your favorite center?

At the end of this second week, our students aren’t wasting any time getting to work as they strive for excellence. This year, Dr. Brown has challenged our teachers to #FeedTheFire. We encourage our students to follow: Find what makes you be your best self and #FeedTheFire!

Thank you, Dahlonega Woman’s Club, for your generous support of our WBL Program @ LCHS! Your donation will directly benefit students and our Aim-Achieve-Arrive Center.

Not only did we recognize the volunteers who were a part of the inaugural summer of Well Read, Well Fed last night, but we also named Community Helping Place as our Partner in Ed for August! Thank you, LC, for coming together to serve the families of this community.
