Lumpkin County Receives Gold Award
for Public Relations from GSPRA

This week, the Georgia School Public Relations Association (GSPRA) held their annual awards celebration to recognize and celebrate the achievements of public relations in school systems across the state.

A need for improving public relations and communications in the Lumpkin County School System was identified during the strategic planning process five years ago.  To facilitate the system’s strategic goals in this area, Jason Lemley was named to the dual role of high school assistant principal and Director of Public Relations for the school district. Since that time, the district has been recognized as a GSBA Leading Edge Award winner for work in communications.

With the announcement this week, only 23 school systems out of 181 in Georgia received awards for their work in public relations this past year.  Of those 23 systems, 19 were recognized with a gold award in one or more area.  Lumpkin County Schools was one of those nineteen districts to receive a gold award from GSPRA.

Superintendent Brown commented, “We’ve seen a tremendous improvement in communications and public relations from our school system over the past few years.  I am proud of the work we are doing to better engage our parents and our community in the education of our students.  Being recognized as one of 19 school districts in the state at the gold level is a testament to our continued improvement and success in this area.  Mr. Lemley has done an outstanding job leading our efforts in this area and I am extremely proud of his work. We remain #FocusedForward in Lumpkin County Schools!”
