COVID-19 By-the-Numbers for 8.20.2020 #TRIBE #FocusedForward

In Lumpkin County, we have two models of teaching and learning this school year. Over 600 of our students are currently in our distance virtual learning model, and the first week and a half proved to be a great start to this new school year! #FocusedForward #TR1BE

This is what's it's all about...collaborative partnerships with several agencies to benefit the students of Lumpkin County! We are looking forward to not only the literal fruits of the labor, but also the ability to compost our school kitchen scraps and have our students visit the Hometown Harvest! #BetterTogether #TR1BE #FocusedForward

We will be posting our COVID-19 By-the-Numbers every Tuesday and Thursday. Today, you'll see a spike in the number of students currently quarantined (up from 49 last Thursday). Following guidelines from the Department of Public Health, students who #MaskUp do not quarantine if exposed. #MaskUp, LC!

Lumpkin County's response rate for the 2020 Census is just over 62%. Looking at several surrounding counties, LC is not in first place. We don't know about you, but we do not like being anywhere but in first place! Complete the census today! Go to: 2020census.gov #TR1BE

With just over 600 of our students in the virtual learning model, we have a dedicated staff working with these students and parents every day! We want to see and share what virtual learning looks like for you. Send a picture of your workspace to jason.lemley@lumpkinschools.com!

It's been a successful first week of school in Lumpkin County. We want to have many more weeks like this one, so we have some special people encouraging all of us to MASK UP! #𝘽𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙏𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 #𝙁𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙙𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙

Thank you for your patience as we adapt to school traffic in Dahlonega this week!
Whereas the first week of school every year brings new traffic challenges, the number of students arriving by car has increased. Based on a count this morning, 758 students (62% of students coming to campus at LCES and LCMS) arrived at school in a personal vehicle. This increase has caused vehicles to stack up in both directions on Hwy 19 Business, and we apologize for the inconvenience.
Although the traffic has been a challenge, the increase in car-riders has resulted in more space on school buses and has improved our capacity to socially distance students on the buses.
We will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments to our procedures in hopes of expediting the drop off process. Thank you for your continued patience!

The agency responsible for accrediting educational institutions, Cognia, recently recognized the Lumpkin County School System and all five of our schools with an extension through 2024 of our accreditation status. Congratulations to our district and schools! #BetterTogether
In an effort to provide up-to-date information, Lumpkin County Schools will publish our data weekly in hopes of keeping our students, parents, and community aware of the impact COVID-19 is having on our students and staff. Thank you for your continued support of LCSS! #TR1BE

That's a wrap on the first day! Things looked a bit different with the single-file lines, faces coverings, special attention to social distancing, and more. We are proud of our #TR1BE for embracing this new normal, and we look forward to days 2 through 175! #FocusedForward

Welcome back to school, LC #TRIBE! We are excited to begin this new year with all of you either in-person or virtually. #FocusedForward #BetterTogether

Lumpkin County is stalled at a 60% response rate on the 2020 Census. We need your help! If you haven't responded to the census, please do so today at my2020census.gov. Every response helps our county and our school system with needed federal funding! #BetterTogether #TR1BE

If your student is coming back for the traditional in-person school model, please join us for Open House this Thursday, August 6th! If your student is opting for the distance virtual learning model, your Zoom Orientation will also be on Thursday (you should have received an email with the Zoom link last week). #FocusedForward #TR1BE

Are you interested in purchasing accident student insurance this year? If so, please follow the instructions included. This is an optional insurance policy parents can purchase for their children.

As mentioned in our latest post, as the guidance from CDC and DPH changes, we will also change our decision guide for students. The latest LC Decision Guide is posted for your information. Thank you for your support of our school system! #FocusedForward #TR1BE
